Posted on: 4th MarThis week at The Downs School we are all incredibly excited ahead of the school show, Les Miserables. The performances will be taking place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The cast, under the direction of our incredible Drama Teacher, Miss Duthie, has been rehearsing hard and sets have painstakingly been built. Our productions are renowned for their professionalism and the incredible singing and acting talents of our students.
Les Miserables is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, that is considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. Beginning in 1815 and culminating in the 1832 June Rebellion in Paris, the novel follows the lives and interactions of several characters, particularly the struggles of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption.
