We would like to send huge congratulations to Aisling, Susie and Jake who last night won the Rotary Youth Speaks District Final, delivering an incredible debate on ‘Patriotism: A Force for Good.’

The event, which this year took place over Zoom, sees students from different schools compete to win by delivering succinct and thought provoking debates which have written by the students on subjects that are meaningful to them.

The Downs School team was referred to by the judging panel as ‘intelligent, clever speakers’ and their mentor, Mrs Wealleans praised them for their ‘exceptional teamwork’ and being ‘phenomenal ambassadors for the school.’

The team are due to receive their trophy shortly (picture to follow) and are now through to the next round which is due to take place in January.  Well done Aisling, Susie and Jake, we are extremely proud of you.
