The first ever Downs School Golf Open event took place on Saturday  at the Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa golf club. There were over 50 attendees, including past and present teachers and Headteachers, former students, and current families and friends of the school. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the PE Department.

The event was organised and hosted by Martin Balfour, Head Professional at Donnington Valley and organised and teams of four completed the 18 hole course.

After the event, a prizegiving and silent auction took place in the clubhouse, with prizes kindly donated by local golf clubs, Newbury Racecourse, Lifestyle Gym in Newbury and the Crown and Horns pub in East Ilsley.

Final monies are still being counted, but it was a fantastic day, made even better by the glorious weather and we plan on making it a yearly event.
