Years 7-12 Sponsored Walk 2024 

The Downs School is holding its annual sponsored walk on Thursday, 19 September to raise funds for the benefit of the students and the school community.  The walk is approximately 10 kilometres and follows a signposted and marshalled route up onto the Ridgeway and then back to Compton.  Students will be off timetable for part of the school day to complete the walk. 

The school has undertaken this event for the last twelve years.  Last year we raised over £20,000 which has been used to expand classroom spaces, purchase 2 new minibuses (arriving in September 24), purchase new interactive whiteboards and improve the Wi-Fi across the site (completion by September 2024). This year we are fundraising for improvements to our swimming pool – namely the plant room and replacement air handling unit. 

Everybody connected with the school community takes part: teachers, learning support assistants, supervisors, students and office staff.   

SPONSOR FORMS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO TUTORS BY WEDNESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER. PLEASE DO NOT PAY IN MONEY UNTIL AFTER THE WALK HAS TAKEN PLACE. PAYMENT ONLINE BY SCHOOLGATEWAY IS PREFERRED.
