Year 7 boys had an incredible cross country event last weekend. Held at Newbury Showground over a two-mile mostly flat course, The Downs School emerged victorious beating all the other Berkshire schools in the tournament.

 

Fielding three teams, they finished 1^st, 7^th and 12^th on a wet and cold day, in very muddy conditions. Congratulations to Tom who finished 5^th overall in the race, Ivan who was 10^th and John who was 31^st. Congratulations to them and all those involved.

 

Our Year 8 boys also put in an impressive performance to finished 3rd team overall in the Y8/9 boys competition. Our Year 8 girls team finished 6th in the Y8/9 event.

This is a really impressive result for the school at county level and we now head to the District competition on 23 January where we are hoping for further success.
