Year 12 A Level Law students Alec, Issy, Alice, Gemma, Harris, Sam, Charlotte and Sophie have entered the ‘The Legal Apprentice’ competition, which is running in partnership with The Times newspaper.

The competition invites teams of students to complete a number of tasks aimed at tapping into their ‘inner solicitor’. Designed to give students first- hand experience of the work of a solicitor, students will have to use their skills and logic to provide legal advice for virtual clients. Prizes include £500 for each member of the winning team, and the opportunity to win a legal apprenticeship with a well recognised law firm.

The competition consists of a number of heats which will include students identifying legal issues, interviewing witnesses and pitching for clients. The overall winners will be announced in June.

A Level Law teacher Mrs Gosling said: “This competition will provide our law students with an excellent opportunity to put their theoretical skills into practice, working together as a team to experience the everyday work of a solicitor.”
